Clinell Sporicidal Wipes
More Information:
In 2006 in the UK there were 6,480 deaths associated with the spore forming bacteria C. difficile, a 72 per cent increase from 2005. Current methods to deal with spores are based on chlorine which is complex to make up and causes many hazards to the user and the environment.
Peracetic acid has long been known to be one of the best and safest spore killers on the market. It has many advantages over chlorine based products including higher kill count, activity in dirty condition and is environmentally friendly breaking down into harmless by products. The problem with peracetic acid is that it breaks down rapidly and this has practical limitations with regards storage for more than a few hours without it breaking down. Clinell Sporicidal allows the user to generate peracetic acid on demand by the simple addition of liquid onto a dry wipe and thereby overcoming the problem of peracetic acid degradation.
Clinell Sporicidal offers an easier, safer and more effective alternative to chlorine based products. The ease of use of the product and its high efficacy against spores means that it should have a high impact on reducing C. difficile rates and the deaths associated with it.
Clinell Sporicidal comes as 25 wipes in a pack. It is designed for dealing primarily with spores as a hard surface wipe. They are ideal for commode cleaning and terminal bed cleaning by nursing staff. It can also use be used directly on blood spills or body fluid spills (the wipe will be automatically activated with the blood or body fluid).
Clinical advantages of Clinell Sporicidal
- Quick and easy to use without the need for precise measurement or dilutions. Chlorine requires dilution to precise levels before use and hence wastes time (plus encourages non-compliance).
- Environmentally friendly - breaks down into harmless by-products. Chlorine compounds by-products are toxic to the user and patients and are carcinogenic.
- Works in highly soiled conditions - unlike chlorine - killing spores deep in dirt such as faeces.
- Kills all pathogenic microorganisms including spores of Clostridium difficile.
- No toxic fumes. Can be used next to patients.
- Delivers peracetic acid on demand to the site of need.
- Comes in a stable form which does not dry out.
- Non selective action. Does not give rise to resistance.
- Contains no alcohol or organic solvents.
Anti-microbial Activity
Powerful sterilising and disinfecting composition using pH optimised peracetic acid generated from sodium percarbonate and tetra acetyl ethylene diamine embedded within a dry wipe.
High power oxidative kill against all microorganisms including non-enveloped viruses and bacterial endospores.
Delivers a greater than 6 log kill of spores in 1 minute contact time
- Conforms to EN1276, EN14348, EN14476, EN13704 and other protocols. Click here to see the test results.
